Dow American Cup II - November 11-12, 2006 - Midland Civic Arena

Elite Short Track Racing Debuts in Midland!
With spots on both the U.S. World Cup Short Track Team and the U.S. World University Games Short Track Team up for grabs, competition will be fierce as the fastest short track speedskaters in the country come to Midland to claim their spot on the teams. Trips to Quebec, the Netherlands and Hungary are in store for the World Cup team - while the World University Games team will compete in Torino, Italy. Visit the U.S. Speedskating website for more schedule details.

For Olympians Alex Izykowski (Bay City) and Kimberly Derrick (Caledonia), the Dow American Cup II marks the first opportunity they've had since Torino to race before a crowd in their home state. This event also gives Midland natives Ryan Bedford and Barry Winslow a chance to race before a hometown crowd. Current U.S. World Cup Short Track team member Bedford now trains in Colorado Springs at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, while high school junior Barry Winslow now trains at the U.S. Olympic Education Center in Marquette.
