2007 Dow American Cup I - September 29th & 30th- Midland Civic Arena
 
World Class Short Track Speedskating -
in Midland!


With spots on the U.S. World Cup team at stake, the fastest short track skaters in the country are expected to converge in Midland September 29th & 30th for the 2007 Dow American Cup 1. Only the top six male & top six female skaters will be making the journey to China, Japan, the Netherlands, and Italy to represent the U.S. at the first four Short Track World Cups of the 2007-2008 season. Competition will be fierce, as skaters reach speeds near 30 mph vying for their spot on the team.  It's short track  - LIVE!

Catch Michigan skaters, former World Cup participants & U.S. national team members Alex Izykowski (Bay City), Kimberly Derrick (Caledonia), and Ryan Bedford (Midland) as they race to claim their spots on the fall 2007 U.S. World Cup team. Watch Midland's Barry Winslow, a resident at the U.S. Olympic Education Center in Marquette, as he attempts to make his first U.S. World Cup team.

NEW-Coaches Meeting
There will be a meeting for all coaches 9AM Saturday morning on the mezzanine. Only credentialed coaches will be allowed on the upstairs for the meeting.

Competition Info
Skaters, the 7th-12th place finishers will earn spots on the U.S. team competing in Calgary at the Conematic International Short Track Challenge October 4th-15th. Skaters in contention for finishing in the top 12 at the 2007 Dow American Cup 1 should bring their passports with them to Midland. Passports should be valid for at least the next 6 months, and should have 2-4 blank pages for stamps.

In conjunction with the Dow American Cup I,
the Midland Speed Skating Club is proud to host the

Watch skaters as young as four years of age compete in this highly technical sport prior to the start of each day's American Cup races.
Mini Cup races start each morning off, with the Dow American Cup I races following in mid/late morning. Racing should be concluded by mid-afternoon Sunday, with an awards presentation immediately following.
